This opening chapter invites you to arrive softly. Through grounding breath and gentle guidance, you’ll be introduced to somatic and mindful awareness as practices of care rather than control. Together, we’ll explore what it means to create a personal learning container, where all of you, your rest, fidgeting, stillness, or movement, is welcome. You’ll learn foundational concepts of somatic and mindful awareness and begin reconnecting with body-based wisdom as a birthright, especially for communities whose embodied experiences have been historically dismissed or erased.
