I am private pay only and do not accept insurance. However, I’ve found that many insurance companies will cover my services as an out-of-network provider. If you have a PPO, I can provide a “super bill” that you could submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You can see if you have out-of-network coverage by logging into the insurance company website or by calling the number on the back of your card.
Some benefits of paying privately include more privacy and more control in our work together.
Questions to ask your insurance
“Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for mental health care? Specifically, for outpatient psychotherapy?”
“Do I have a deductible for out-of-network mental health services? If yes, what is the remaining amount I will have to pay before my health plan starts to reimburse me for fees that I pay out-of-pocket?”
“What is the maximum amount my plan will reimburse for mental health service code 90837 with a Psychotherapist?”
If the rep does not provide a clear answer, ask: “What is the maximum allowed amount for mental health service code 90837 with a psychotherapist, and what percentage of the maximum allowed amount will my plan pay?” (This percentage of the maximum allowed amount is the amount you would receive as reimbursement.)
Can I incorporate reiki into therapy?
Yes! Reiki is a gentle, Japanese meditation practice although the founder was a Buddhist monk, it is not a religious practice. I introduce Reiki practices such as the 5 precepts, hands on self healing, hara breathing that you can practice and incorporate it with your daily life.
